Rubber waste reprocessing company bouncing with joy at latest accolade success

IT is green for go forward for a Hyde company celebrating victory at the Pride of Tameside Business Awards (POTBA) for a second successive year. And its latest win further justifies the decision of Steve Crompton to negotiate a management buyout for HS Polymer Reprocessing Ltd earlier this year.

Established at Newton Business Park in 2006, the business followed up on last year’s Micro Business of the Year triumph by winning the 2019 POTBA Green Impact Award.

HS Polymer Reprocessing, which employs five staff and has a turnover of £250,000, was also shortlisted in three other categories.

Steve, a polymer chemist and the company’s former general manager, completed his buyout in June of this year.

“We have developed a process to convert vulcanised rubber material waste back into a form that is clean and easy to incorporate back into virgin rubber compounds,” he explained.

“As a result, the rubber flows like the original virgin rubber compound without the use of additional ingredients or additives.”

Well known in their field of expertise, HS Polymer Reprocessing’s work has been recognised and highlighted in trade press publications including: Plastic & Rubber World, European Rubber and British Plastic & Rubber Magazine.

Refusing to rest on his laurels Steve said: “I am committed to growing the business further.

“For 2020, we are looking for some of our new projects to materialise and upscale to full factory reprocessing stage.

“We are also looking to invest in additional polymer reprocessing equipment and obviously hoping to defend our Green Impact Award at next year’s Pride of Tameside Business event.”

Away from the factory floor, HS Polymer Reprocessing sponsors Stalybridge Celtic’s under 9’s football team’s away kit and raises money for the Tameside 4 Good charity.

It is registered with Tameside as a Disability Confident Committed company and is a member of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.
