EVERY month, the Correspondent will be getting to the heart of matters at Ewen Fields.
And who better to get it from than Hyde United’s manager, Darren Kelly?
In every edition, the Northern Irishman will be giving his view on how things have gone and how he sees them going in the future.
It promises to be an interesting summer for the Tigers as hopes remain high that he can guide them out of the Evo-Stik League Premier Division.
Signings are already being made and there will be plenty more to come as he attempts to form a squad capable of promotion.
But how does he feel about how things are shaping up and how they will shape up?
Here are his views in his exclusive column.
Put simply, a top 10 finish will be a great season for us.
Yes, there are games we could and should have won but injuries, suspensions and loss of form are things we didn’t have to deal with last season.
If we hadn’t had those, I think we would’ve been in the play-offs this year – but I know what we need for next year now.
Signing Ryan Crowther is an indication of what we need as we’re looking to kick on next season and when we come back for the first day of pre-season, we’ll have a good squad.
By any means, we won’t be the finished article but something like that is definitely about us making a statement.
Now it’s time for the players that are here to show they want to be here next season and prove it with performances.
Obviously, the window is currently closed but we’ll bed making contact with players from other clubs that we want whose contracts are up as soon as possible.
And we will look to keep four, five or six of our current squad in order to kick on but we’ll look to bring in a number of targets.
We’ll look to bring in a few from higher divisions too but in terms of stabilising, this has been a good season.
Our first year here was about rebuilding after three years of relegation and we did that by coming up in our second.
That’s why a top 10 finish this year would be a good year.
Now the process of bringing the team and the club further forward is in full swing as we try and bring in more players.
But it’s not just a case of throwing names on a piece of paper, or on a computer as it would be a pretty big piece of paper.
Now we are going through things like how they train and even things like their GPS readings from matches – it’s a real process.
